WORST DAY EVER (by Nat Rios)

This was a short film made in the Animation Unit (ACM2006) as part of first years in Bachelors in Interactive Media. This was built, sequenced and drawn in Adobe Flash, out of a combination of Flash vector drawn graphics and art elements made in Photoshop. One scene in particular had been lagging during playback, and with only solution to render one scene in individual picture frames to accurately synchronise the short.

This short actually proves Animation as my favourite, passionate subject.

This video was made in 3D Modelling and Animation class, after some modelling and construction experience in trueSpace 3.2. Rendering was done in high definition (1920 by 1080) but this video is merely a sample of what was done for the project.

This video takes place in a museum exhibit, and follows a brief visual history of one of its museum props - a singular-person exploration probe.

As in the case of the upcoming holiday seasons, I have recently discovered the reflections feature in the 3D modelling program, truespace 3.2. I took this rendering feature as an advantage, and created this three dimensional artwork consisting of a collection of festively coloured spheres. Transparent, levitating spherical droplets also float in the air.
This composition made in Truespace 3.2. Enjoy the reflectiveness.

Category banner designs for a Walt Disney World focused tribute weblog WOL4EVA (Wonders of Life, Eterna), focusing on an assorted-attractions pavilion in EPCOT Center that ran from 1989 to 2007. Icon references to two of the pavilion’s popular attractions are present in the ‘articles corner’ postage stamp.

Most of these created using: pen tool and brush stroke function; various vector images and photographs, arranged and merged in Photoshop.

A 3D Graphics test I have done as part of Semester One in Digital Imaging. On the left are a series of bottles and urns; to the right, a parfum bottle for an orange-scented spray. All are constructed using the 3D > Revolve function in Illustrator.

This was another assignment I have done earlier in illustrator, this time, using the 3D shapes function to create artwork. In this case, the Biohazard container, in which the artwork mapped onto the objects are shown.

This was done in a few weeks, in March, after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster which pactically flattened some cities. These small plaquettes are based on the British WW2 poster with the caption Keep Calm and Carry On. These plaquettes echo this message in (rrom right-to-left) exact English, as well as Romanised and Standard Japanese.

This one I have done in Digital Imaging class, and was originally going to be submitted as part of the Inside, Outside aspect of the Illustrator assignment. Here, we are inside a blood vessel, accompanied by a helping of red blood cells in a wonderful aquatic-resemblant environment of plasma.

And so begins the first section of my professional digital portfolio blog.

Welcome readers, this is Natalia Rios. Informally the rightbrained person I am -  different, not afraid to blaze my own trails and work independently, however I feel.

Basically, this blog is for a handful of things that I specialise in - digital artwork, website design, short story/screenplay writing and the like. As I progress through life, be it my studies, or pieces of projects, or a few things to showcase my new skills, it will be all here. Basically, all the right-brained creative things hand-chosen by myself, safe for work. I promise.
